I wear contacts normally, but occasionally I need the focus that reading glasses provide.  I jokingly tell people that I don’t need the reading glasses but wear them only because they make me look good.  But nobody believes me…not even me.  First, I need a lot more than glasses to look cool.  And second, I really need help reading that up close small print.  I am not getting older…my eyes are just getting tired.  Or something like that.  Some of you know what I mean.

Vision is important.  Crisp and clear vision is inspiring.  Bad or blurred vision is disheartening.  I really want to see clearly and focus intently.  And when I can’t, I get frustrated.  It is probably time I go see my eye doctor again.  I need to make sure that I’m able to see what I need to see.

Vision is important for your life, your family, your finances, your faith, and it is vital for our church.  I like to think about vision as “a picture of a preferred future.”  Said another way, “vision is a visual of where God wants to take me.”  It is a portrait of who He wants me to become.  This weekend is Vision Weekend at BCA.

  • We will recast the Vision God has given us.
  • We will celebrate the hundreds of lives that have been changed through the ministries of BCA this year.
  • We will highlight 20 cardboard testimonies and the miracles behind those stories.
  • We will join together in communion as we consecrate this new ministry year to the Lord.
  • We will commission our Marysville Branch Campus Team and pray for the following weekend’s launch.
  • We will roll out our 12 Growth Objectives for Fall 2016.
  • We will commit to 60 Days of Spiritual Growth that begins Sept 17/18.
  • And more.

How is your vision?  God’s Word gives us clarity as to who we are, whose we are, who we can become, and God’s blessed ideals for our life.  Now is a good time for us to make sure our life is in FOCUS.  Open the scriptures and compare your path with God’s path for your life…and make a course correction where needed.  His ways are always best…and blessed.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” –Jer 29:11

Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God]. —Prov 29:18
