WHAT IS CONQUER?

“CONQUER: Overcoming Odds. Taking Risks. Reaching New Heights.” is our Fall 2019 message series and 60-Day Spiritual Growth Challenge. For the next 60 days, we will be looking at 8 Critical Choices That Will Shape Your Life and Future.

WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN THE CONQUER SERIES?

The Book of Joshua is a book about “conquest.” In the opening act, Moses dies and Joshua is handed the baton of leadership. He is tasked with leading the Israelites into the Promised Land for the purpose of conquering it. In fact, his mission of possessing the land is literally known as “The Conquest.” Joshua’s assignment was overwhelming to him and would be to anyone. But in the end he succeeded in accomplishing the mission. He overcame incredible odds. He took risks and stepped out in faith. And in the end he reached new heights.

As the succeeding chapters of Joshua unfold, we see the story of the Israelites facing enemies, crossing rivers, and conquering the land. We also see Joshua making 8 critical choices. These same 8 critical choices are applicable to the kinds of choices we must make in our lives if we are going to be all we were meant to be. We may not have to ford rivers and defeat nations, but we have our own obstacles and opportunities we must conquer if we are going to reach our own promised land. These 8 critical choices made by Joshua are important translatable principles that we would do well to apply in our lives today. In many respects, we will only become the best version of ourselves by making the right choices. Wise and critical choices.

In this study of conquest and choices, we will look at 8 Critical Choices That Will Shape Your Life and Future. These choices won’t just affect your life and future, but also the life and future of those around you. Everyone of us has influence. How we live and the choices we make will not only impact us but also those around us. Joshua shows us 8 critical choices to live by. Choices to make each day. As we study his story, let’s find meaningful ways to apply these life choices to our story.
