As you read through the Proverbs, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement and wisdom to your own life.

Patience
When I read the scripture about being patient, I think about two applications. How about you? The first is waiting. It is hard to wait. I’m not the most patient person in the world but I’m working on it, I assure you. Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Esther, and Paul had seasons spent in God’s waiting room. But they were patient. And trusted. And didn’t give up. Maybe you are waiting for something to happen, someone to change, or circumstances to break in a good direction. Hang in there. God’s ways are not our ways and His timing is not ours. But His ways and timing are always wise. He has your best interest at heart. Abraham waited for a son. Moses waited for deliverance. Esther waited for the king. And Joseph waited in prison. But they, and so many other Bible greats, were patient and trusted in God’s goodness and wisdom. We’ll talk about the second part of patience next time…you’ll have to wait (smile). But for today let me say, be encouraged. Don’t be weary in well doing. Trust in God and His timing. Keep praying and keep believing. He has a purpose. It’s hard to wait. But be patient. God is working for you and in you during times of waiting. Be patient and trust.
“Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.”
