During this time unlike anything we’ve seen in recent history, I’ve been thinking about Esther. Mordecai encourages Esther to step up during a crucial time and serve. He said to her, “who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). The Jews were about to be destroyed and Esther put her life on the line, literally, to save them. Her focus was not on her personal well-being, but on others. What an amazing and powerful and inspiring example for us all.

I feel this way about us and what we’re going through. We can idle away this “season” and wait for it to pass. Or we can seize the day, like Esther, and make a difference. You are living today, in this season of COVID-19, “for such a time as this.” I encourage you to lean into the Lord and let Him use you in a tremendous way. You are not here by accident. You are not here to take up space. You are here to make a difference. For your family, your church family, and others. Go for it. I’m praying for you and cheering you – and all of us – on!

It’s easy to become absorbed by the fear and the challenges around us. That is a real human feeling. But God wants us to move from shock and worry and anger and frustration – to PURPOSE. How does God want to use you to bless others around you? Have you thought about that lately? If not, I encourage you to pray and think on that today.

We are in a really tough time. But it is also a season of opportunity for Christians everywhere to show the love of Christ. Find a hurt and encourage it, see a need and meet it, scope out the burdens of others and help carry them. The needs are great and will only become greater. But so will the opportunities to serve others in Jesus’ name. Remember, you are here “for such a time as this.” So seize the day, as Esther did, and make a difference in Jesus’ Name.
