Many people love the Proverbs.
It is a book full of wisdom and sound advice. Furthermore, as you know, Proverbs is filled with probabilities more than promises. In other words, we choose the kind of life we want to live and certain rather predictable consequences follow. Such as here. If we spurn wisdom and good advice, we will pay for it. We will reap what we sow. Foolish living will be painful in many ways. So good advice and wisdom is beneficial for us, but only if we follow it. To turn from it will bring ruin. Simple to understand. May we all be quick to follow.
“Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me, since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord. Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” – Proverbs 1:28-33
