Join me in a study on the Proverbs: God’s Wisdom for Today. As you read through the Proverbs, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement and wisdom to your own life. Today, we study and reflect on Proverbs 20.

Reflection
While we live in a day where it seems like most are quick to quarrel, God has a much different recipe. Simply, don’t be quick to quarrel. Avoid strife if you can, when you can, and as often as you can. Sure, there are things that must be confronted, discussed, and debated. But even then, we can do so in a non-strife producing way. Seek to speak the truth in love. Build up and don’t tear down. Avoid name calling and labeling. Remember sarcasm can be aggressive communication when used inappropriately. Seek to respect and not demean. I wonder how following this simple advice could enrich our relationships, strengthen our communication, and actually help us all work through differences and conflicts better. Ask God to help you do your part in every conflict to tone down strife and turn up constructive dialog.
“It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.” – Proverbs 20:3
