Join me this year in a new study on the Proverbs: God’s Wisdom for Today. As you read through the Proverbs, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement to your own life. Today, we study and reflect on Proverbs 3.

Reflection
Would you like to have God’s favor? Of course you would! We all would. Proverbs 3 reminds us of the primary path that leads to God’s favor. I’m wise and blessed to stay on it and walk in it. This path is remembering His commands. In other words, I need to study and practice His teachings. I need to read the Bible with the idea of proactively applying it to my daily life. While this is no surprise to anyone reading this, what is surprising is the apparent chasm that exists today between talk and walk – between profession and practice. Far too many say the right spiritual truths, but their lives and practices are far different. That’s incongruent and will not lead to blessing. You and I, and everyone who professes Christ and calls themself a follower of Christ, must seek to rigorously obey His teachings and live like Jesus did. We all have a ways to go, but let’s make sure we are on the right path and heading in the right direction. It is His path that leads to blessing. Do you need to make a course correction in one or more areas of your life? Do you need to get back on God’s path and align your life with His teachings? It is something we all must do from time to time. It is wise to do so. God shines His favor on those who do.
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” – Proverbs 3:1-4
