- Work goes on. It’s different but still very busy.
- School goes on. Online and from home, instead of at school or college.
- Responsibilities go on. Family needs, to-do lists around the house, and more.
- Caring for loved ones goes on. Some in our church have lost loved ones and need to plan a funeral during this season. Others have loved ones in the hospital that they can’t see or visit.
- Financial demands go on. Bills don’t stop coming in the mail and expenses don’t necessarily all go down.
- And much more.
The stress and strain of doing life in these uncertain and unprecedented times can be taxing and anxiety-producing. So we need to put our trust in the Lord and encourage one another. Both Proverbs 3:5-6 and I Thessalonians 5:11 are key verses to employ during these hard times.
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
- Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
“How can we trust more?” and “Who can we encourage more?” are two great questions to ask ourselves this week (and every week). It’s easy to become burdened down with anxiety, but when we trust in the Lord, He lifts our spirits. Crawling into the fetal position and focusing on self alone might be a natural tendency during these days, but living out and looking out for others will buoy our spirits and those around us.
Find someone to encourage every single day. Live outward…and as you do you will live upward. God can be trusted and when you encourage others you yourself will be encouraged the most. So look up with trust and live out with encouragement.
