Everyone wants peace. The angelic message rings loud to us during these turbulent times, “Peace On Earth, Good Will Toward Men.” But finding that peace can be elusive for many. Peace “eroders” like worry, fear, disappointment, anxiety, loss, and pain hit everyone and are found everywhere. And yet the Bible reminds us that peace is possible and can be found in the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. Isaiah 9:6 says, “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” While “peacelessness” seems to be at an all-time high, Jesus offers us His peace, which goes beyond human understanding.

I posted a question on Facebook recently. I asked, “How is your fear level today?” And then I said, “Jesus is our Prince of Peace. He wants to quiet your soul, comfort your heart, buoy your spirit. Lather, rinse, and repeat in this: Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” What a powerful scripture and truth. Jesus came at Christmas to bring Peace on Earth. He is the Prince of Peace. “The Lord is my light and my salvation.” He is light for a dark world, and salvation for a lost world. Fear comes to rob us of peace but Jesus is the Prince of Peace and He drives out fear. So let me ask you: How’s your fear level? Anxiety level? Disappointment level? Uncertainty? Discouragement? Hopelessness? Turn to Jesus, the Prince of Peace. He offers peace for our past, peace for our present, and peace for our future.

There are two kinds of peace we all desperately need: Peace with God and the Peace of God.

  1. Peace with God.
Romans 5:1 — Therefore, since have been justified through faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Roman 5:8 — But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Ephesians 2:8 — For it is by grace you have been saved through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. Jesus came to die on the Cross for your sins and mine. By placing our faith and trust in Jesus, we can find forgiveness for sins and find peace with God. Jesus is the only Way. Turn to Him and trust in Him.
  2. Peace of God
Philippians 4:6,7 — Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
John 14:27 — Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Romans 15:13 — May the God of hope fill you will all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. We can find peace in the middle of life’s storms. His peace can calm our mind, comfort our heart, and quiet our spirit. Hope in Jesus as our Prince of Peace can give us hope where we are hopeless and assurance where there is uncertainty. Whatever you need is today…you can trust Jesus. God knows your story and wants to give you peace.
