Join me this year in a new study on the Proverbs: God’s Wisdom for Today. As you read through the Proverbs, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement to your own life. Today, we study and reflect on Proverbs 1.

Reflection
People seek after many things in life, but I’m not entirely convinced wisdom is one of them. People seek status, favor, money, attention, pleasure, materialism, platform, and many other things. Wisdom is not high on the list for many. God wrote the Bible to challenge this premise and more specifically, one book of the Bible, the Proverbs. We are challenged to seek wisdom and “to be wise in God’s eyes.” I’ve always believed that God’s wisdom and will are found in His Word. If more people would but only seek His wisdom, marriages would flourish, families could be saved, financial burden minimized, relational pain avoided, and spiritual bankruptcy preempted. It all starts with putting God and His ways, will, and wisdom first in our lives. Let’s all be wise in God’s eyes!
“The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight; for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair; let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” – Proverbs 1:1-3, 5, 7
