As you read through the Proverbs, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement and wisdom to your own life.
To Young Men.
I’m rooting for you, praying for you, and believing in you. I have had the great privilege of mentoring young men for over 30 years. I’ve been so inspired to see many fellas seize the day and lead and live well. Unfortunately, I’ve seen others who have allowed themselves to lose sight of what’s most important and choose a wrong path bringing destruction on themselves, their families, and those around them. Guys, you have a great opportunity to do good and make a huge difference in the lives of your family and others. Seize it. Maximize it. Don’t waver or lose sight of what’s most important. Be disciplined. Be godly. Love and lead and live well. You have one life. Don’t blow it. Win it. Honor God in all things. Be loving. Be kind. Serve your wife and kids. Love God above all. Be understanding. Pursue godliness at every turn—speech, behavior, finances, time, faith, family, character. You won’t be perfect. None of us are. But the trajectory of your life can be full of right choices lived on the right path. When you blow it, confess it and seek forgiveness. Don’t give yourself a pass. Call a foul on yourself. Admit your failures. Try again and do better next time. Always growing. Sincere. Authentic. Honest. Integrous. Live for God. Protect your family. Serve others. Make a difference for God and for good. I believe in you and am praying for you today. Your responsibility is great, but so is the reward. Where do you need to change? Where do you need to grow?
“Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.” – Proverbs 11:29-30
