Join me in a study on the Proverbs: God’s Wisdom for Today. As you read through the Proverbs, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement to your own life. Today, we study and reflect on Proverbs 14.
Reflection
How long has it been since you asked God for direction? For forgiveness? Wisdom? Peace? Comfort? Provision? Or thanked Him for any or all the above? For some the answer is “earlier today.” For others, “it’s been a long time really.” Walking with God is a daily journey. One which requires continuous conversation (prayer), daily devotion, and ongoing obedience. And it leads us to living for Him, following after Him, and loving like Him. Without ongoing prayer and scripture study, we can become seduced into following our own plans and walking in our own ways. And it can be subtle. And it can seem right. But we need to ask ourselves frequently, am I living for me or for God. Am I on His path for my life or my own? Like I said, it can be subtle. There is a natural bent in each of us to live for self and to be selfish. But God wants us to be selfless and to live to honor Him and serve others. Let’s all take a moment to reflect on our own lives and the direction of our lives today. What in your life needs to be adjusted a little? Or a lot? Maybe there is a course correction needed? Let’s get on track with God and talk to Him about the direction and decisions of our life daily. Blessings will follow us if we do.
“Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly, but those who despise him are devious in their ways. The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception. There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death.” – Proverbs 14:2, 8, 12
