As you read through the Proverbs, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement and wisdom to your own life.

Speak Life.
We’ve heard it said, “to demean is to be mean. To belittle is to be little.” We can speak life into others, or we can crush them. Our words are that powerful. Speak well. Build up. Encourage. Strengthen. Be a fountain, not a drain. Be a channel of God’s love, not a dam, in marriage, with your kids, friends, neighbors, work, and with others. God wants to use you today and every day to lift up someone you know or encounter. Who can you encourage today with a well-spoken word of hope or blessing? Is there anyone you know who is struggling? Where can you bring peace, hope, kindness, gentleness, and encouragement? Don’t tear down, pull down, break down, or talk down to others. Instead, build up, affirm, strengthen, and encourage. Speak life into someone today. Ask God to guide you and use you.
“The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.” – Proverbs 15:4
