Join me in a study on the Proverbs: God’s Wisdom for Today. As you read through the Proverbs, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement and wisdom to your own life. Today, we study and reflect on Proverbs 31.
Reflection
It is easy to get into survival mode and focus on self and not others. Just making it through the next day is sometimes all we feel we can do. We have all been there. Maybe you are there right now. Life can be all-consuming, stressful, and difficult for a variety of reasons and we can find ourselves left with no margin. We can feel stretched tight. And yet, throughout Scripture God tells us to make margin and keep margin in our life for the purpose of caring for those less fortunate. There is something life-giving and energy-producing about helping someone who is hurting and needy. Even when life is tough for us. Sometimes, especially when life is tough for us. Jesus understands and is our example. So today and this next week, try to find someone to help and encourage. You will bless them. God will bless you for your kindness. And God Himself will be blessed by your care for others.
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” – Proverbs 31:8-9
