Join me this year in a new study on the Proverbs: God’s Wisdom for Today. As you read through the Proverbs, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement to your own life. Today, we study and reflect on Proverbs 9.

Reflection
Fear is something that grips our hearts, suffocates our peace, and robs our joy. You’ve experienced it. Everyone has. Maybe you feel a twinge of it right now. Maybe you are experiencing fear concerning your kids, finances, future, health, job, education, or other. What is the antidote to fear? Faith. Specifically, faith in God. There is nothing too great, or hard, or ominous that our God is not able to defeat in life. That doesn’t mean there won’t be challenges, because there will be. It does mean that we will never face life’s challenges alone. We will never be powerless. Ironically, the key to defeating fear is another kind of fear: We need to fear the Lord. Actually, we need to revere the Lord. Honor Him. Devote our all to Him. Trust Him. Place our faith and hope in Him. Living life revering the Lord leads to blessing. When we revere the Lord, crippling fear is neutralized. Worry wilts. Doubt is overcome. Confidence is restored.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.” – Proverbs 9:10-11
