The Psalms have brought tremendous comfort and guidance to so many for so long. Join me in taking a fresh look at each Psalm. As you read through them, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these devotional bits of encouragement to your own life. Today, we study and reflect on Psalm 4.
Reflection
Jesus says you are blessed when you hunger and thirst after righteousness. Happy are the ones who do the right thing, live the right way, and are righteous in relationships and speech. David’s prayer in this Psalm challenges us to search our hearts and weed out unrighteous thoughts, words, actions, ambitions, motivations, and more. It is good to look inward and ask God to cleanse our hearts and purify our thoughts so we can live righteously in His sight. Take a moment today and affirm your trust in God. Ask Him to remove unrighteousness and give you a righteous heart.
“Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord.” — Psalms 4:4-5
