I’m working on a new approach to my blog series this year. Personally, I am walking through the Psalms (as I have done many times). These Scriptures have brought tremendous comfort and guidance to so many for so long, so each week this year I will share a couple of brief devotional thoughts from the Psalms. As you read through them, I urge you to reflect, pray, and apply these bits of encouragement.

Reflection 1
The idea of idolatry is one we usually dismiss out of hand, but it’s worth our attention. We don’t need to erect a golden calf to get off track. Often times we allow other things like people, pursuits, or status to displace God as the #1 priority in our lives. We all do it, but not everyone recognizes it and makes the necessary course corrections to get back on track. Take a minute to reflect today. Maybe some priority recalibration is in order.
“I hate those who cling to worthless idols; as for me, I trust in the Lord. Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” — Psalms 31:6, 24

Reflection 2
Forgiveness!! Ultimately, that is what Easter creates for you and me. Jesus was on a mission to redeem us. My failures are not final and my future is secure in Christ. I’m undeserving but so grateful!
“Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!” — Psalms 32:1-2, 5, 7, 11

Reflection 3
This is a powerful piece of Scripture, especially as we approach Easter. Jesus came, lived, died, and rose again for us! When we trust in Christ we receive help, hope, love, and eternal life. Celebrate His love and mighty power as you rejoice in His Resurrection!!
“We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.” — Psalms 33:20-22
